Find a spot on the wall or ceiling where you can focus all your attention. Or you can use a candle, sacred object, photograph or picture to focus your attention. (This is sometimes called eye fixation.)


Spend a few moments, or a few seconds, using all your concentration to focus on the spot enjoying any changes that take place such as blurring or fuzziness. You can take pleasure in noticing the heaviness of your eyelids and the growing desire to allow your eyes to close.


When you eyelids feel very heavy, or when you just feel ready to allow your awareness to go inwards, you can allow your eyelids to close.
