How deep does the trance need to be?

Research has shown that the therapeutic success of hypnosis is not dependant on the depth of trance.

In practice this means if somebody is not entirely sure if they have been hypnotised, or they just feel they have been relaxing, they can still experience therapeutic change.

There is a wide spectrum of trance experiences, all of which achieve sufficient changes in consciousness to allow subconscious receptivity to healing suggestions.

In any level of trance the peaceful mind accepts helpful suggestions and allows the imagination to create multi-sensory or dreamlike experiences of change, which are subsequently integrated into conscious experience.
