What is hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnotic trance to achieve therapeutic change. You can think of it as opening a direct communication channel with your subconscious. It’s all about you gaining power over your actions.

When you are in a hypnotic trance you use the same parts of your brain where you find dreams, memories and fantasies. These are the forces in you that draw you subconsciously or automatically towards certain actions and deter you from other actions.

For a moment think about the power of memories. Some memories are so strong they create an immediate subconscious lesson - burning your hand on a cooker hob ensures you never even think of touching it again. Other memories have an effect through repetition like learning how to change gear when driving. The subconscious assumes what it learnt is helpful, unless or until it learns otherwise.

Hypnotherapy helps you train your subconscious to make the changes you have consciously chosen. Change becomes easier as soon as the conscious and the subconscious are working in harmony
